Warning, this is a long blog post as I haven't published any lately.
You might have noticed that my logo has changed. My talented graphic designer friend Minna who made the logo added there the "world tour" as I will be traveling a lot until the end of May 2016. I started my journey already in October 2015. This is like a dream come true moment for me. I have always dreamt of traveling for many months and finally I got the opportunity. The first couple of months just went really fast, I had to get used to be away from home and get myself settled changing the scenery all the time.
My idea was to stay with people I know from all around the world. At some cities I am staying in a hotel or in airbnb. I was happy to notice how many people I know in different countries in Europe, Africa and the Americas. In Asia - where I travelled only in Indonesia - I was staying in hotels and traveling there with my friend Maikki but part of the trip I traveled by myself. I also have a friend in Melbourne, Australia, but unfortunately he is away when I would have had the chance to visit his family. So I need to postpone my Australia trip to the future.
Since October 2015 I have traveled in:
- Berlin, Germany (three weeks, 10/15)
- Amsterdam, The Netherlands (three weeks, 10-11/15)
- Barcelona, Spain (two weeks, 11/15)
- Dakar, Senegal (two and a half weeks, 12/15)
- Ubud & Padangbai in Bali, Indonesia (+ two weeks, 12/15-1/16)
- Gili Air in Lombok, Indonesia (5 nights, 1/16)
- Seminyak in Bali, Indonesia (3 nights, 1/16)
- Santa Monica & Los Angeles, USA (one week, 1/16)
Currently I am at:
- México City, México (three weeks, 1-2/16)
My plan for the next destinations is:
- Orlando, USA (2/16)
- Santa Monica & Los Angeles, USA (2-3/16)
- Jersey City & New York City, USA (3-4/16)
And then back to Europe in April:
- Barcelona, Spain (4/16)
- Other destinations are still open and there might be changes in my plans...
I started my travels in Berlin where I was staying with my old friend Pilvi. Berlin was rainy but I truly enjoyed the low priced food and driving around with a bicycle when the weather was favourable. You can buy really cheap food from the grocery stores and at the restaurants in Berlin. Actually I cooked home almost every day because Pilvi has a daughter and we spent a lot time at her beautiful home in Wedding neighbourhood. But I also had a change to enjoy tasty and inexpensive restaurant meals as well as dinner parties at friends' homes.
In Amsterdam I stayed with Maikki. I cooked at home a lot, but we also enjoyed the fantastic restaurants in Amsterdam and had an amazing Asian dinner with Veera and Henna at their home in De Pijp. And of course we were daily bicycling around by the chunnels and running at Vondelpark. Amsterdam is such an inspiring city to me, I could se myself living in there.
From Dam I traveled to Barcelona. That was my seventh time over there. I have been going there since 2004 as I have a really dear local friend there. I just love that city, it's like my second home. I was staying some days with Ariadna and her husband Uri in Vallcarca. But actually most of the time I stayed in an airbnb apartment with my American friend who travelled to Europe for the first time.
From Spain I traveled to Dakar in Senegal. I'll tell you more about that later. After my African experience I traveled +24 hours to Asia. My destinations were Bali & Lombok in Indonesia (see the main photo). First I spent some time at Ubud in Bali with Maikki. Then we traveled by bus together to Padangbai (Bali) and the next day I took the ferry to the beautiful Gili Air island in Lombok. There I was by myself. Then I spent few days in Seminyak (Bali, Indonesia) before flying out.
From Indonesia I travelled the horrible +30 hours to Los Angeles, USA. I spent one week in Santa Monica at Tuija's & Antti's house. Marina accompanied me for few nights. Unfortunately I didn't see much as I was sick the whole week. Luckily I'm going back there later.
At the moment I am at México City in México for three weeks. After my México experience I'll be back in Santa Monica / Los Angeles. After that my plans are still open. We'll see what comes up.
If you wanted to accommodate me somewhere in the US or Canada (or anywhere else), just send me a message. My plans are flexible and I can house and dog sit for you if needed. I am also open for cooperation or sponsorships.
Stay tuned for more blog posts.
